The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command,
yesterday paraded a man and his wife for using young girls as
prostitutes under the pretence of getting jobs for them.
The suspects, Falusi Temilola, 45, and
his wife Falusi Helen, 43, were said to have held four victims hostage
at Sharp Corner Hotels, Orita Aperin area of Ibadan where they used them
for prostitution and fattened their pockets.
The state Police
public relations officer, DSP Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor gave the names of
the victims as Endurance Erabor (15), Jessica John (25), Princess
Igbinedion (17), and Tina Nosa (20), all from Benin City in Edo State.
She said, "The criminal investigation department of the police received
information about a girl who was said to have been brought from Benin
for prostitution but refused to be sexually abused.
"When they got
there, they discovered that it was true and that there were other three
young girls working in the hotel as prostitutes. We discovered that the
people behind this are Mr and Mrs Falusi.
"When interrogated, the
girls told us that they came to Ibadan due to loss of parents and lack
of help which prompted them to search for greener pastures. They said
the woman told them that she had a beer parlour and would bring them to
work as attendants only for them to discover that they will be working
as prostitutes.
DSP Clet-Ilobanafor said the Police, on the
completion of their investigation, shall charge the suspects to court
while the young ladies shall be rehabilitated through the intervention
of agencies like NAPTIP. She advised young girls to be wary of people
who always promise to get them jobs.
In another development, an
unidentified man has attacked some members of the Calvary Church,
Ayekale-Agugu, Ibadan during a vigil on February 26, 2014.
The DSP
disclosed that the suspect, now at large, attacked Rev Oladimeji and his
wife and two girls identified as Anu and Kausara Isiaka with machete at
about 2am that fateful day.
She said Kausara died due to severe
injuries she sustained during the attack while the remaining victims
were recuperating at an undisclosed hospital.
The police gathered
from the pastor that Kausara got converted from Islam to Christianity, a
situation which displeased her father, Mr Isiaka who had threatened to
deal with the girl. The police has arrested Mr Isiaka for interrogation.
