How I Was Attacked – Buhari

The former head of state said he was the target of the blast.

Former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari has described how he narrowly escaped a bomb attack on his convoy Wednesday in Kaduna.

In a short statement, Mr. Buhari said he was the target of the bomber.

“I was personally involved in a clearly targeted bomb attack today along Ali Akilu Road, Kawo-Kaduna at about 2:30pm on my way to Daura,” Mr. Buhari said.

“The unfortunate event, clearly an assassination attempt, came from a fast moving vehicle that made many attempts to overtake my security car but was blocked by my escort vehicle.

“We reached the market area of Kawo where he took advantage of our slowing down and attempted to ram my car and instantly detonated the bomb which destroyed all the three cars in our convoy,” Mr. Buhari said.

The former leader said when he came down from his vehicle, he saw many dead bodies littered around.

“They were innocent people going about their daily business who became victims of mass murder,” he said.

The attack on Mr Buhair followed an earlier blast in Kaduna Wednesday targeting a senior Islamic cleric, Dahiru Bauchi. Mr. Bauchi also escaped unhurt, but police said 25 people died.

The spokesperson of Mr. Buhari’s All Progressive Congress, [APC], Lai Mohammed, also said the explosion was targeted at the former head of state.

“Yes, his convoy was attacked,” Mr. Mohammed said in response to PREMIUM TIMES enquiry. “He narrowly escaped but some of his aides were hurt. The General is ok, but perhaps traumatised.”

A loyalist of Mr. Buhari, Rotimi Fashakin, said the former head of state was on his way to his home town – Daura in neighbouring Katsina state – when he was trailed by the bomber and attacked.

“I’m sure political Boko Haram are behind the attack,” Mr. Fashakin said. “General Buhari was the target of the attack.”

The leader of a pro-Buhari pressure group, The Buhari Vanguard, Jasper Azuatalam, said the former Nigerian leader was possibly attacked over his recent criticism of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“Recall that two days ago, Gen Muhammadu Buhari issued a statement warning President Jonathan and his government on their attempt to muscle the opposition and endanger Nigeria,” Mr. Azuatalam said. “The Presidency raised an eyebrow to the statement.”

Governor Muktar Yero has announced a 24 hour curfew in Kaduna metropolis.

  1. CAN ACTOR DIE IN A MOVIE? It was a planned work by Gen. Buhari so that he could defend his irrationtional allegations against Goodluck Jonathan. If that stupid son of a bitch had died, those foolish fish brains would have started pointing fingers @ goodluck cos of the conversation they had yesterday. #Mtcheeeeewwww who is fooling who? Anyway Gen. Buhari was not supposed to die in that bomb attack movie because he was the writer, director and executive producer. Boko Haram top Cabinets: 1. Alhaji Ali Sheriff (founder) 2. Mohammed Yusuf (co-founder) 3. Sultan of Sokoto (spiritual leader) 4. Rabiu Kwankwaso (auditor general) 5. Emir of Kano (head financier) 6. Ibrahim Gaidam (financier) 7. Ahmed Yerima (bomb expert) 8. Muhammadu Buhari (bomb/guns importer) 9. Umaru Gambari (weapons manager) 10. Atiku Abubakar (bomb factory manager) 11. El-Rufai (chief treasurer) 12. Turaki of Adamawa (head of Sharia court) 13. Ibrahim Wamakko (recruiting officer) 14. IBB (general overseer)___ #APC=RIP!!!

  2. Thank God Buhari is okay. Both GEj and Buhari can not make a change. This monster which is eating up this nation because all of them failed us. Why do you want to kill yourselves for this failed political class. They should all die and let peace and progress follow this country. Where leadership will be for the people, if they can't provide water, road and electricity. They can't even secure themselves you call them leaders. My brothers let's watch them and God will exposed all. Those innocent guys that died could be any of us and government both past and present did nothing and you're wasting your time fighting each other. What we have in Nigeria are thieves not leadership

  3. Instead of fighting boko haram, they were busy accusing opposition figures and tactically allowed the monster to grow. The other day I heard the government was looking for loan to fund the military, yet the same government was/is splashing hundreds of millions on impeachment projects. Military/security agencies were flooded in ekiti during the governorship election, yet not a single security man is in Damboa right now where boko haram has hoisted their flag. Anyone still apologetic to this government needs his/her head examined!!
